Common questions

Is this real data?

No. Every figure comes from a fixed set of sample transactions so the demo reads the same for everyone. The dates roll forward with the calendar so the month you are looking at is always the current one, but no real account is involved and nothing you do here is saved.

Is this the actual app?

Yes - this page renders the exact same dashboard component the signed-in app renders, with sample data passed in instead of your own. What you see here is what you get, not a mockup of it.

How does receipt scanning actually work?

You photograph a receipt from your phone or upload an image. Expenssly sends it to a vision model that reads back the date, merchant, total and individual line items as structured fields, then applies your categorization rules before showing you the pre-filled form. You review and correct anything wrong before it is saved, so a bad read never lands silently in your data.

Do I have to categorize everything by hand?

No. Your own rules are checked first, in priority order, and the first one that matches wins. A rule can set the category, merchant, currency and amount independently. Anything no rule matches can fall through to an optional built-in keyword preset that recognizes common merchants.

What happens if I am offline?

Expenssly is installable as a progressive web app and keeps working without a connection. New expenses and receipt images queue in local device storage, and previously loaded pages are served from cache. When the connection returns the queue syncs automatically; edits to existing expenses sync back as edits rather than being duplicated.

Can I track more than one currency?

Yes. Each expense keeps the currency it was actually paid in, and every total converts to your preferred display currency using daily exchange rates that are cached rather than fetched per view. Try the currency selector at the top of this page.

What does it cost?

Expenssly is free to start and no credit card is required. The AI insights suite - monthly digest, ask-your-data chat, subscription audit and savings suggestions - is currently invite-only, but receipt scanning, budgets, reports and everything in this demo are available to every account.
