- Is Expenssly free?
- Yes, it is free to start and no credit card is required to create an account. Receipt scanning, budgets, reports, recurring bills and multi-currency tracking are all available on a free account. The AI insights suite - monthly digest, ask-your-data chat, subscription audit and savings suggestions - is currently invite-only.
- How does the receipt scanning work?
- You photograph a receipt or upload an image, and an AI vision model reads back the date, merchant, total and each individual line item as structured fields. Your categorization rules are applied automatically, then the pre-filled form is shown to you for review before anything is saved, so a misread never lands silently in your data.
- Do I have to categorize every expense myself?
- No. You can teach Expenssly a rule once - for example that anything from a given merchant is Shopping - and every future receipt follows it. Rules are evaluated in priority order and the first match wins, and each can set the category, merchant, currency and amount independently. An optional built-in keyword preset handles anything your own rules do not cover.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. Expenssly installs as a progressive web app, and new expenses and receipt photos are queued on your device when there is no connection. They sync automatically once you are back online, and an edit to an existing expense syncs as an edit rather than duplicating the entry.
- Can I track more than one currency?
- Yes. Each expense keeps the currency it was actually paid in, and every total, budget and report converts to your chosen display currency using daily exchange rates that are cached rather than fetched on every view.
- Is my financial data private?
- Your spending data belongs to you and is not sold or shared. Diagnostic logging deliberately records only that an action happened - never amounts, merchants, descriptions, categories or filenames - and identifies the account by an opaque internal number rather than by name or email address.
- Can I try it without creating an account?
- Yes. The interactive demo walks through the dashboard, expense list, budgets and reports using a full month of sample data, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
